Who We Are

In 1979, the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board opened Central Hills in Attala County, near Kosciusko. The origins of Central Hills are tied to the destruction of the Mississippi Baptists' Gulf Coast property—Kittiwake Baptist Assembly in Pass Christian—during Hurricane Camille in August 1969. Following the disaster, Royal Ambassador (RA) camps were temporarily held at state parks. Mississippi Baptist leaders sought a new, centrally located property to serve as a hub for the state’s Christian camping ministries and purchased the 540-acre wooded site that would become Central Hills Baptist Retreat.

Central Hills Baptist Retreat is affiliated with the Mississippi Baptist Convention and serves as a ministry partner in supporting the mission and values of Mississippi Baptists. We align with the Baptist Faith and Message and are committed to promoting biblical teaching, Christian fellowship, and spiritual growth consistent with Southern Baptist doctrine.
